United Way April Food Day 2025 / April 23, 2025

Join United Way of Metro Chicago for April Food Day on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, as we come together to promote food security and recognize our community leaders advancing equity in the south-southwest suburbs, a region facing high levels of poverty and systemic education, health, and wealth inequities.

South Suburban CROP Hunger Walk / May 4, 2025

No one in this world should be hungry. That’s why the CROP Hunger Walk is more than just a gathering of people in a place. We’re part of a movement, taking steps and raising funds together to provide meals for those in our own community who need them – and supporting programs that create greater food security in communities all around the world.

Join us for registration at 1:15pm.

2025 Shelter Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon / Fall 2025

Please join us for an afternoon filled with delicious food, great company, and heartfelt appreciation. This luncheon is our way of saying “Thank You” for all that you do.

2025 Annual Pathways Home Event / October 16, 2025

Please join us in partnership this year. Attend and/or sponsor our event to help people escape homelessness and achieve better health, wellbeing, and economic security.

  • Time: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Location: The Clubhouse at Dolphin Lake located at 2700 W 183rd Street, Homewood, IL 60430
  • Event Type: Network and socialize with over 100 supporters and local organizations
  • Ticket Price: $75 per person (Each ticket provides an estimated $75 worth of event benefits. As a result, the IRS allows a tax deduction for each ticket that you purchase and utilize. If you sponsor the event, your ticket price will be $0 and you may receive more than one ticket.)
  • Dress Code: Business Casual or Business attire
  • Food & Drink: Please enjoy beer, wine, and a variety of gourmet appetizers

2026 Point in Time Count / January 2026

The Point in Time (PIT) Count is a census of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires every Continuum of Care (CoC) in the country to conduct a PIT Count.

As the leader of the Cook County CoC, the Alliance to End Homelessness coordinates the Unsheltered PIT Count for suburban Cook County. During this single night, volunteers canvass the streets in small groups and attempt to count every unsheltered person in suburban Cook County. The PIT Count improves the ability of the Alliance and homeless service providers to plan and implement efficient and effective services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
